WHY OCCUPATIONAL HEALTH & SAFETY MATTERS

Occupational health and safety training is about more than just compliance – it’s about protecting the physical and mental wellbeing of employees throughout their working lives. From musculoskeletal disorders and chemical exposure to stress and occupational cancer, the risks are diverse and often preventable with the right training. By raising awareness and encouraging safe practices, organisations can significantly reduce illness, improve morale and productivity, and meet legal health and safety obligations with confidence.

COURSE OVERVIEW AND FORMAT

This accessible course requires no previous training or qualifications, making it ideal for employees at all levels. It has been developed as a self-development correspondence course, allowing learners to study at their own pace and choose the time and environment that suits them best – whether at home, at work, or on the go. The course is delivered in a modular format through our online learning portal, where delegates can access course content, complete a questionnaire, and download their certificate upon successful completion. The final questionnaire should be submitted to ALM for assessment. Delegates are also supported throughout the course by qualified tutors, available by phone or email to assist with any questions or provide guidance.

ON COMPLETION OF THE COURSE, DELEGATES WILL BE ABLE TO:

  • Understand the responsibilities of both employers and employees in managing occupational health and safety risks.

  • Define what occupational health entails and why it is important.

  • Identify personal responsibilities for safe working practices that reduce health impacts.

  • Understand and implement health surveillance systems in the workplace.

  • Recognise the role and benefits of occupational rehabilitation.

  • Create safe systems of work that help prevent illness caused by occupational hazards.
